NEWSThe Search Is On The Legend Cub is a superb recreational aircraft. As cross-country flyer, it’s a vehicle for creating lifelong memories. Often times Legend Cub’s are flown close to the pilot/owner’s home, sharing the experience with family and friends.
American Legend has always sold its aircraft direct. This model has worked partly because of our central U.S. location. We also fly out annually to meet folks at the best aviation events in the country. But necessity seems to be changing our direct sales approach.
Recently, we have been talking with prospective dealers to assist with sales and support of the Legend Cub. In our search, we hope to find the most qualified people in our industry. They must also, of course, possess our devotion and enthusiasm for the Legend Cub.
If you know of a local company that provides superior support for aircraft they sell, we’d like to hear about them. The following criteria will be considered as we search for factory representation of the Legend Cub:
Maintenance capabilities and facilities Flight training capabilities Current aircraft offerings Ability to stock a demo aircraft
NEWSOrder Now In Time For Christmas
In October, American Legend Aircraft Company announced a limited number of available delivery slots in December for its Legend Cub. Typically operating on a 90-day delivery schedule, the company will produce additional aircraft through the end of 2007, and several lucky customers will take delivery of their Legend Cubs in time for Christmas.
Kurt Sehnert, American Legend GM, commented, “One of the greatest difficulties of buying a new airplane is the wait time for taking delivery. We have shortened this delivery time down to less than 90 days so new owners can enjoy their Legend Cub as the perfect Christmas present. A broad range of factory options are available to customize the Legend Cub and make it you’re very own.” Read more at www.legend.aero/news.asp?id=53
NEWSFactory Fly-in Filled with Fun
It was one of those transitional days. Between the often-brutal Texas heat of summer and the un-flyable blustery days of winter, this day was spectacular. Light winds, a mildly warming sun, and bright blue skies fell upon Sulphur Springs and the factory of American Legend Aircraft Company today.
October 13th was anything but ominous, as the number might imply. Today American Legend Aircraft Company welcomed customers, friends and shoppers of its Legend Cub. Demo aircraft lined the ramp and variety of work-in-progress examples were framed by wide-open hangar doors. It was sun and fun in Texas. It was a day to talk Legend Cubs.
Conversation snippets: “I wish I could’ve flown my Legend Cub down today, but I had to bring the family so we came in the Cheyenne.” “My brother keeps telling me what a great airplane company this is, so I had to come out today to see for myself. And I brought my son to share the experience.” “Float flying sure looks like fun. [reply:] We’ve got a lake and a seaplane base right across the runway there.” “These are Texas Sport kits in production. These four customers will be back next month to complete the next phase of their build projects.” “This is the earliest, still flying, original Cub. It fits right in with its modern offspring.” “I’m excited about the flight, let’s just hope we can make it home before the sun sets.”

LIFESTYLEFinding Friends At 100’ AGL
Sometimes we make new friends just by being there. In a recent letter from a fan, we learned that a gaggle of Cubs is often a welcome call…
I am glad you all are doing well. I was at Keokuk, Iowa for the L-Bird fly-in and out flying when I saw your formation flying up the Mississippi river heading to Oshkosh. I joined up for a few minutes in my 1942 L-4 Cub that I restored last year and flew across the country for three weeks to raise awareness and money for brain tumor and cancer research. After flying with you all for a few minutes I headed back home near St Louis. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Brian "Brain" Kissinger www.brainsflight.com
LIFESTYLEA Fan Is A Future Dream Come True We also learned that you don’t have to be a pilot to be a fan… I don’t have a pilot’s license. I don’t have an LSA license. And I don’t have an income that would let me own an airplane. But, if I did... This would be the plane that I would get. I have been wanting to fly airplanes since 1969. I was eight years old then, and remember my dad telling me about flying B-17’s in WWII and driving past the airfield (Ryan Field) where he learned to fly at outside of Hemet, Calif. Dad told me on several occasions that we would go up in an airplane and he would let me take the controls. That never did happen, and the closest I have been to flying is an introductory flight for $49.00. It was fantastic.
I have been flying radio control airplanes for 18 years now and I just purchased a 25% scale Piper Cub (Hangar 9 25% PNP cub) and I absolutely love this airplane. My girlfriend’s most favorite airplane ever is the Piper J3! We went to a local air show in Heber, Utah, and before we got there she could see a yellow plane and said “I think there is a cub over there” and sure enough there was! It was a 1943 J3 fully restored and beautiful. It has sparked my interest in getting my LSA license and I think maybe next year I will make that a priority and maybe I can save enough to also rent a cub.
To make a long story short... I would only consider an American Legend Cub for my own airplane. I believe your quality and attention to detail is unmatched. My girlfriend and I would love to come take a tour. She was raised in Texas! I visit your website often and have read almost everything I can find about your airplanes.
Keep 'em coming!

MANUFACTURINGMost Popular Options Factory production reached its peak in 2007, when American Legend Aircraft Company was building as many as eight aircraft per month. Our order backlog reached 55 shortly after the Legend Cub’s introduction. Working to reduce this backlog saw a flurry of activity and a frenzy of smiling customers as each took delivery.
As we have broken the century mark with deliveries, we have noticed that our customers are opting for variety of equipment on their Legend Cub. The most popular option thus far has been the wingtip mounted strobe/position light. This fancy for optional equipment continued with requests for an interior light, quick oil drain, air/oil separator, and larger tires. Performance enhancement is driving the demand for options.
Also noteworthy is that one in three Legend Cubs produced include an EFIS in their instrument panel. With such equipment, pilot workload is not only reduced, but the level of comfort is increased in knowing that information is just a glance or a touch away. This might also explain why the majority of Legend Cubs have a Garmin GPS unit. For more on Legend Cub manufacturing, go to www.legend.aero/manufacturing.asp
