SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS, JUNE 18, 2008 - American Legend Aircraft Company and Texas Sport Aircraft Company announced today the companies recently certified and approved a new 72-inch Sensenich propeller for the acclaimed Legend Cub certified light-sport aircraft and Texas Sport kit aircraft. The new propeller option increases aircraft performance by as much as 10 MPH. The propeller is ground adjustable providing a convenient way for Legend Cub and Texas Sport owners to enhance the performance as well as tune their aircraft for comfort and safe operation.
The Legend Cub is a certified light-sport aircraft similar in appearance to the Piper J-3 and PA-11 Cubs. It is offered as a fun-to-fly and affordable, recreational aircraft. The Legend Cub has led the category as the #1 selling American made LSA since its introduction in 2005. The Texas Sport is an amateur-built aircraft based on the design of the Legend Cub.
The Sensenich 72-inch diameter ground adjustable composite propeller was recently certified and is now available. The propeller specified for use on the Legend Cub and Texas Sport is a 2-blade model designed expressly for experimental and light-sport aircraft. Offered as an upgrade from the Legend Cub's standard Sensenich 72x44 classic wood propeller, the 72-inch composite ground adjustable model costs $1,895.00. It is also available to Continental O-200 equipped Legend Cub current owners and Texas Sport builders for $2,556.00.
The 72-inch Sensenich propeller was recently tested and ASTM certified for use on the Legend Cub and Texas Sport. During the test it was noted that an additional 10 MPH can be achieved, effectively increasing the aircraft's cruise speed to 108 MPH. The added convenience of a ground adjustable propeller allows operators to tune their aircraft for comfort and safety with respect to the type of flying they wish to do.
