Legend Combat Cub with Continental Engine
Echoing classic WWII liaison aircraft, the Legend COMBAT CUB revives their calling. These historic L-BIRDS, produced for the U.S. Army and Air Force from 1942 to 1962, served a variety of support roles during the conflict. L-birds were commonly referred to as GRASSHOPPERS, in part for their olive drab color, and certainly for their ability to takeoff and land on GRASS FIELDS.
Formerly, L-birds served with artillery and other outfits spotting combatants and relaying strategic information to commanders in real time. Today, Legend Combat Cubs and their inspirational L-bird brethren can be seen performing liaison duties for for private owners and flying clubs. In modern LIAISON airplanes, pilots seek adventure in remote places, and on every continent. They can often be seen flying unspecified missions, low-and-slow and around the patch.
The Legend Combat Cub is the only modern L-bird available in Open Cowl and Closed Cowl configurations. And, it's the only airplane in its class with doors on both sides and the ability to fly with all doors and windows open.
